Oldsmomad 2 by flying-polock Oldsmomad 2 by flying-polock
Rear view of the "Oldsmomad"I had created for Rod and Custom... Part dream car, part custom... part street machine.
Igot to thinking "what if Oldsmobile made a two door hard top station wagon (like Chevy's Nomad and Pontiac's Safari) between '55 and '57... But threw a bigger twist than the other version in my gallery, pondering the circumstance that perhaps one of these was customized... and after out-living it's usefulness as a show car, it fell into the hands of a speed shop owner in the later 1960's? Could such different styles be mixed on one car, and still look good? I think they could! Hope you feel the same!
As always, pencil sketch, scanned into Illustrator CS2...

I don't think I'm familiar with the station wagons of the 50s. Care to enlighten me?

Very sweet, like the handling of the taillamps. It almost has a, I'm not sure... biological look, like limbs were cut off and we see the taillights underneath. Or something.

Something feels a bit missing to me, though... I think it's just how dark the tires are, and there isn't anything up top to match em. I don't think it'd bother me normally, but, because the windows are grey. I think that's it. I'm not sure what color the interior would be, but if we could see something black in the car, I think it would balance it out a bit more. Maybe if we even just saw part of the not-moon roof that we see looking through the moon roof (like just the ceiling of the car, we're able to see a bit of it), it would be darker anyways, and I think that would help to balance it out, contrast wise. Or, you could just give it some grey tires for that worn look! XD

I also keep expecting to see some sort of pinstripe along the upper side, closer to the windowline. But, I guess it's all for the clean look.

Oh, crazy idea. Shave off the door below the chrome piece on the side, and turn the upper half of the door into a gullwing. It'd totally reinforce the lines put in by the moon rooves. Huh? HuuuuuH?

just kidding, of course. It wouldn't be very classic that way.

Very nice again. You seem to always have great colours.

Have you ever done Knight Rider in the way you draw cars? Would like to see that. I may even have a go myself.

How about a '57 Buick version? This is a very cool concept.

Oldsmobiles have to be the greatest car on planet.
i own two 1969 Oldsmobile Cutless convertables, one is stock and the other has a V8 viper engine, two tone black and cherry pain, everthing i decked to the max, you know?
i've always wanted a Nomad, there a sweet ride and the look cool too.
BTW, do you think your artwork would be in any magazines again?
